Ayurvedic Doctor

Roop S. Chauhan

VaidyaRaj_Chauhan-300x300Roop Singh Chauhan is an Ayurvedic doctor in NYC. He is a traditional doctor of Ayurveda. In Sanskrit, an Ayurvedic doctor is called Vaidya. Vaidya-Raj means someone is an expert in Ayurveda.  He is in the vanguard of the new generation of health professionals seeking to spread the message of Ayurveda and wellness through proper lifestyle and techniques of treating chronic diseases.

He is a pioneer in the field of Ayurveda and naturopathy.

As an alternative medicine provider in NYC, his mission is to integrate the concepts of complementary and conventional medical systems. He is widely credited with melding modern theories of health with the timeless wisdom of ancient Ayurveda.

Conditions He Treats

As an Ayurvedic specialist and Ayurvedic doctor in NY, he is dedicated to catalyzing the evolution of the prevailing health care system to a “healing system.”  He has also formulated protocols for treatment and management of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, weight issues and obesity, migraines, respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, allergies, asthma;  skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema; and spine and joint problems such as  arthritis and cervical and lumbar problems.

Education & Degrees

Ayurvedic Doctor Chauhan was born near the foothills of the Himalayas into a long line of Ayurvedic practitioners where Ayurveda was woven into daily life. His mother Kalawatti was an eminent herbalist and his grandfather Vaidyaraj Bajiraji was the physician to the royal family.  He studied with two famous Ayurvedic physicians – Vaidyaraj Pt. Amarnath Dogra and Acharya Ved Varat Sharma who taught him Shalakya Tantra (Ayurvedic Ophthalmology) and Rasa Shastra-Kimiya (an ancient branch of Ayurveda).

He has degrees in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (G.A.M.S.) from the Dayanand Ayurvedic college in Jalandhar, Punjab in addition to a Doctorate of Naturopathy from the Ministry of Ayurvedic and Naturopathy in New Delhi, India. He is board certified as an Ayurvedic and Holistic practitioner by the American Ayurvedic Medical Association and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, USA. He was honored with a degree of M.D. Ayurveda (Honoris-Causa) by the International Ayurvedic Medical Association of Germany in 1999.

Ayurvedic Doctor Chauhan is the author and co-author of books and articles on Ayurveda with an emphasis on healthy living and wellness. He has lectured on Ayurveda in many countries in Europe and Asia.  Vaidyaraj Chauhan has founded the Ayur Research Foundation in India to spread the message of holistic living and preventive methods for health care.

Suzanne Wise, BSN, RN

Suzanne has a deep and enduring love for health and wellness practices for over two decades.Ayurvedic Assistant

She first found Ayurveda after reading Pratima Raichur’s book Absolute Beauty. Her deep interest was kindled after following the recommendations and being amazed at the results. Her studies of Yoga over the past decade led to a growing yearning to explore the sister field of Ayurveda which is based on the same science as Yoga.

Meeting Ayurvedic Doctor, Vaidya Chauhan

Her wish to study with an Ayurvedic master was fulfilled when she met Ayurvedic Doctor, Vaidyaraj Chauhan. She has been studying with Vaidya Chauhan closely in a clinical setting. She is filled with deep gratitude in being part of an ancient lineage of bringing wellness and health to humanity.

She has been learning meditation and compassion based practices from many kind and realized masters for almost a decade. Suzanne has a B.S. in Nursing from Hunter College and a B.S. in Psychology from the College of Charleston. She is a certified Pilates instructor and a practitioner of Yoga.
